Several new naphtho[1',2':5,6]pyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines (4, 5, 7, 8) were obtained by the reaction of enaminonitrile (3) and 2-ethoxymethylideneamino naphtho[2,1-b]-pyrane (6) with suitable reagents such as carboxylic acid derivatives, CS2, C6H5NSC, ammonia, hydrazine, amines and H2S, respectively. Polysubstituted pyrano[3,2-e]- [1,2,4]triazolo[2,3-c]pyrimidines (9, 13) were also prepared. Antimicrobial activities of the synthesised compounds were studied. Some of the compounds gave promising results.
