The dissolution process of citicoline sodium and its release kinetics from tablets in various dissolution media (hydrochloric acid 0.1 mol L-1, phosphate buffer pH 6.8 and water) were studied in a flow-through cell apparatus at 37 oC. The release rate constant of sodium citicoline from the tablets into water and into buffer solution was found to be 61.861 mg min-0.5 and 61.507 mg min-0.5, respectively, and 57.419 mg min-0.5 into hydrochloric acid solution. The release may be described by modified Higuchi's equation. Moreover, the AUCD analysis showed that release efficiency of active ingredient from tablets was complete in all dissolution media.
