Analgesic activity and hypnotic effect of (±)-3-mentone semicarbazone
and thiosemicarbazone derivatives

A series of (±)-3-menthone semicarbazone and thiosemicarbazone derivatives (3a-j) were synthesised and screened for their analgesic and hypnotic activities. Almost all the compounds have exhibited analgesic activity, whereas (±)-3-menthone semicarbazone (3a) has been found to be the most potent. In the hypnotic test the compound 3c showed pentobarbitone-like effect.
