The complex formation equilibria involved in the binary and ternary systems M(II)-HS and M(II)-NTA-HS were investigated by potentiometric titrations at 25 oC and ionic strength of 0.1 mol L-1 NaNO3 (M = CuII, NiII, CoII, ZnII, CdII, MnII, MgII, SrII, BaII, and HgII, HS = sulphathiazole, NTA = nitrilotriacetic acid). The formation of the ternary complex was discussed in terms of the binary species. The distribution of the complexes was evaluated. The mode of chelation was ascertained by conductivity measurements.
