The aim of this study was to relate the tumours induced by 1,2-dimethylhydrazine (DMH) in rat's colon to the gastric content in different dieting regimes. The gastric content was measured calorimetrically to define the burning value. No statistically significant differences in the gastric contents remaining immediately after the ending of feeding and 2 hours after the deprivation of food were found between the groups of rats with and without tumours regardless the diet regime. Induced tumours in rat colons showed no influence on the short-term regulation of feeding and on the extensibility of the stomach with food and gastric emptying.
