1,4-Dihydropyridines 1-21 have been synthesized by treating different aromatic aldehydes with beta-aroylpropanoic acid and ammonia. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of 1H NMR and IR spectral data. Anti-inflammatory activity in vivo was evaluated and compared with the standard drug, diclofenac sodium. Some compounds showed moderate activity.
